CENTAUR Mesh Quality Evaluation

This tool is used to evaluate the quality of a CENTAUR mesh. This information can be used to determine that the mesh is of sufficient quality for a particular solver. The quality of the mesh will be evaluated according to the following quality measures:
  • Sizes
  • Shapes
  • Truncation Error

The locations of each bad element are identified and can easily be visualized alongside the geometry as shown below. Histograms of each quality measure can also be produced.

CENTAUR Mesh Quality Improvement Tool

Usually the quality of the hybrid grid is adequate for performing flow simulations, but if a higher quality grid is needed for a specific solver, the quality improvement tool can be used to evaluate and then improve the quality of the elements in the mesh. The process is user-guided and automatically improves the mesh according to the quality measures listed above.
