CENTAUR_Adapt Examples

  • Hybrid grid refinement / redistribution
The image below shows a view of the original (white) and adapted (green) meshes in the area where the shock impinges on the boundary layer. In this case, the flow separates due to shock-boundary layer interaction resulting in a much higher y+. After redistribution, the layers have been attracted due to higher speed flow in front of shock and repelled in region of separation.

  • Redistribution
The images below show the original mesh on the leading edge of a blade (left) and the mesh after applying redistribution (right). In this case, redistribution was applied for reducing the high y+ values of the boundary layer nodes. As the second image shows, the interface nodes between the prism layers and the tetrahedra have also been moved towards the boundary region, and this motion has also been propagated to the above tetrahedra.

  • Real geometry preservation
The images below show an example adaptation with panel matching for a simple case. As the second image shows, the new points have been moved to match the original curvature of the surface.
